When we were growing up, we loved to read, and our favorite books were the ones about horses. We read and re-read the classics, including Black Beauty and the Black Stallion series, and dreamed of a horse to call our own. Eventually, our dream came true, and Carpenter Country has been home to several horses over the years – though none with wings (yet) like the magical equine featured in our book, The SkyHorse.

To those authors whose books inspired our dream, a very big THANK YOU! Without your fabulous stories, our own imagination might never have taken flight, allowing us to realize another of our dreams: becoming published authors.

We also thank Debdatta Dasgupta Sahay from for organizing the third annual International Authors’ Day Blog Hop. The hop celebrates international authors and is taking place this year from Thursday, July 14 to Monday, July 18, 2016. Participating bloggers are offering great prizes. All you have to do is hop from blog to blog using the links posted below (beneath the Rafflecopter widget) and enter to win!

**We’re offering one copy of our e-novel, The SkyHorse, to a lucky reader.**

The SkyHorse 3-D Resized Small

HL Carpenter is a Florida-based mother/daughter writing duo. The Carpenters write from their studios in Carpenter Country, a magical place that, like their stories, is unreal but not untrue. When they’re not writing, they enjoy exploring the Land of What-If and practicing the fine art of Curiosity. The Carpenter’s latest young adult novel is Pirate Summer, the story of fifteen year old Josey, who has one option to save her brother: traveling two hundred years into the past with a boy she can’t trust.

Good luck, and happy reading!

  1. The book looks very interesting. Hope I win it!
Happy International Author’s Day. It was great reading this post 🙂

  2. Thanks for participating. I know I have read books with animals in them, but I can’t seem to think of one that really stands out as my favorite.

  3. Cathy Brockman says:

Your book sounds good. I just finished Son of Money by Brandon Witt. His MC went to the humane society and got a dog. Not any dog but an ugly mix. The way they introduced Harper( the dog and made her a part of the family was adorable) plus his partner had three more of the poor not so pretty dogs too.

  4. Great memories that led to an important part of your life. Thanks for joining in the hop!

  5. Barb Caffrey says:

Nice to meet you both! Happy blog-hopping, and best of luck with your book.
