Jack studied her. “Do you?”
About as clearly as if she’d been trying to peer through eyeglasses coated with petroleum jelly. “Sure, Jack. Umm, let me count. You’re almost five hundred years old.”
Tenspot said, “That’s even older than my dad.”
Jack half-smiled. “Way older.”
Nessa said, “Are you sure you haven’t been here more recently, Jack? And that all this Fountain of Youth baloney is a cover so you can find out about Bradley?”
He met her gaze. “I swear this has nothing to do with Bradley, Nessa. I never heard his name until you said it this morning. The last time I visited this part of La Florida was in the company of an expedition led by my uncle, Juan Ponce de León.”
“He was your uncle?” Tenspot blinked. “I learned about him in school.”
“So did Jack,” Nessa said.
