Nessa looked at the sky. While they’d been arguing, the wind had  pushed the clouds away, and eased off.

Mr. Sterling said, “That’s good news! For everyone except Jack. He’s right that there won’t be any story. The legend says the Fountain of Youth only appears after hurricanes.” He frowned. “Or maybe it appears after tropical storms and disappears after hurricanes. Can’t rightly remember.”

“Jack remembers, Mr. Sterling.” Nessa pulled her hand from her raincoat pocket, and uncurled her fingers. The silver medal lay in her palm. “He knows all about the Fountain.”
