“Maybe you are.” Mr. Tennies shrugged. “Could be you used up all your profits paying the lawyers. But I figure as soon as Bradley gets out of jail, the three of you will be revving up another scheme. I was sure of it when I heard you and Cori talking about that dumb rabbit acting young. That’s why I called in my tip. Maybe Jack has no interest in following up, but the Luminary does. And once Sly writes an exposé, you and your crooked relatives won’t be able to play your game on a new bunch of unsuspecting marks.”

“We were kidding, Mr. Tennies. We were joking with each other.”

“Sure you were.”
