The dark eyes gleamed with malice. “That’s right. Moran Tennies, Sr., scandal sheet tipster, at your service. Called the Luminary, too.”

Nessa said, “But why?”

His lips curled into a sneer. “I have to earn a living somehow. My wife and I had a successful partnership as investment counselors until I made the mistake of buying into your brother’s last fraudulent scheme. We lost everything we owned, including our reputation.”

Jack said, “What are you talking about?”

Mr. Tennies flicked a glance at him. “Don’t act like you don’t know. Nessa told you yesterday about Bradley being in prison.”

Nessa blinked. “How could you know that?”
