She smiled. “I thought you’d want it, as a reminder of your sister.”

She’d been thinking of him.

With the same abrupt shift that had twisted fear into temper, temper gave way to a love so powerful he thought he might suffocate from it, a love he had only before ever felt for Maria and Tia Bella. This was the same, yet different, too. Wonderfully different. He marveled that the ground beneath them didn’t tremble with the force of it.
