Nessa’s fingers tightened on Jack’s arm.
Jack jerked upright. “What do you want?”
“A fair trade. We can help each other, if you know what I mean.” Mr. Liaberco rattled the papers. “I’ll keep quiet about these results, and you can write up the story on the Fountain for the Pryer. In return, I want the scoop about this latest con scheme your little girlfriend here is cooking up.”
“I have no idea what you are talking about,” Jack said. “And I have no intention of helping you.”
“Really?” Mr. Liaberco snorted. “Think you’re going to get both stories, huh? I guess being the new owner of the Pryer is making you greedy.”
“New owner?” Nessa’s echo of the words was little more than a whisper.
We’re new to the Audacity, the sound program we use for our audio recordings, and to sound effects in general. These are our thoughts on the current episode.
Recording. We recorded this segment in one take, after two practice runs with the microphone off.
Technical. We’re still experimenting with the best time to record. Later in the day is better for vocal quality but worse for background noise.
Comments. Drinking water before recording and having a cup or bottle of water in the booth for sips between sentences really helps cut down on the clicky mouth noises.
Story changes. Minor changes to the written version this week. Still thinking about changing that first sentence–kind of sounds like her fingers are tightening of their own accord.
