Below is the text version of the audio.
(Show notes are beneath the text.)

Jack stood. A blast of wind and rain train-engined into them and Nessa stumbled against him. He caught her, held her upright. Over the roar of the squall, a deep mechanical rumbling grew louder.

Sly Liaberco’s red Chevy inched into the yard through the stormy murk, the windshield wipers thumping across the glass to a hip-hop beat. The car stopped and Mr. Liaberco peered through the windshield at Jack and Nessa.

The rain slowed. Mr. Liaberco shut off the engine, opened the door and got out. He darted around a puddle, his yellow slicker flaring behind him. A gust of wind lifted his rain hat off his head. Before the hat hit the ground, Mr. Liaberco caught it. He walked a few more steps, and stopped in front of Jack and Nessa.

SHOW NOTES

We’re new to the Audacity, the sound program we use for our audio recordings, and to sound effects in general. These are our thoughts on the current episode.

Recording. We recorded this segment in three takes, after three practice runs with the microphone off.

Technical. We’ve been listening to audio books to get style ideas from other narrators. Each has a different method for getting into character.

Comments. Recording in the evening is never a good idea. Our voice is much more clear in the morning.

Story changes. Multiple changes to the written version this week. We’re not sure if the sentences were hard to follow because the installments are so short of if the wording could have been better to start with. Jack hasn’t been updated in two years, and we’ve grown as authors since the last time.
