Jack and The Fountain of Youth — Audio Installment 78
Read along with us!
Below is the text version of the audio.
(Show notes are beneath the text.)
“Did you move the water sample?”
“The jar is gone!”
Nessa jumped up and rushed across the room. “What happened?”
“I do not know for sure.” He pointed to smudged footprints on the floor. “But the sample did not sprout wings and fly away.”
Jack bent closer to look at the muddy outline of the footprints. The tracks made a straight line into and out of the office. He put his foot beside one of the marks, gauging the size.
“That’s not your footprint,” Nessa said. “Someone else was in here while we were sleeping.”
They turned as one and ran into the greenhouse. Jack switched on the overhead lights and followed the trail of dirty footprints along the main aisle, right to the front door.
We’re new to the Audacity, the sound program we use for our audio recordings, and to sound effects in general. These are our thoughts on the current episode.
Recording. We recorded this segment in two takes, after three practice runs with the microphone off.
Technical. This week we are working on hitting the right note with the first word instead of having to record the opening more than once.
Comments. The acceptance and publication of the audio version of The Demise of Fyne Literature has inspired us to move ahead with other audio projects. While the acting portion of Fyne is not perfect, we are encouraged by having finished a project. The practice here with Jack’s audio installments has been invaluable.
Story changes. Several changes to the written version this week. Once again, we are making Jack speak more formally. We also moved part of the description up into the narrative.
