Below is the text version of the audio.
(Show notes are beneath the text.)
Nessa touched his cheek, then rose on tiptoes to press a soft kiss against his lips. When she drew away, she smiled up at him.
He wanted to pull her into his arms, to find the words to tell her how his world had shifted. How much he wanted her to be a part of what he longed for.
She looked at the swirling gray clouds overhead and said, “We’d better get back.”
Jack looked at the sky too. He would find the words to tell her, and the right moment. For now, keeping her safe was his priority. “Sí.”
Nessa shoved his medal into the pocket of her slicker and started down the path. Jack turned away from the Fountain—or rather, from the place where the Fountain had been. He picked up the container of precious agua and hurried after her without a backward glance.
We’re new to the Audacity, the sound program we use for our audio recordings, and to sound effects in general. These are our thoughts on the current episode.
Recording. We recorded this segment in two takes, after three practice runs with the microphone off.
Technical. Consistent spaces between paragraphs and natural-sounding spaces between thoughts, spoken words, speech tags, and character internal/external shifts are essential for the audio to sound less as if being read aloud than simply lived.
Comments. In the future, we’re thinking that the audio would benefit from being abridged. The audio version is very different than the written story and speaking word for word doesn’t always come across properly.
Story changes. Minor changes to the written version this week. Added his feelings in what’s supposed to be a “show” instead of “tell” way. We’ll see when the final editing is done for the reissue. 🙂
