Encouraging Civility

Thanks for sharing this!

Raising a youngster is hard work, but the parents of Civility Inamerica believe they’re up to the task.

“We encourage Civility in all endeavors,” says father Courtesy. Mother Politeness adds, “We’re convinced Civility will thrive in an atmosphere of high expectations and emotional support.”

Courtesy and Politeness also provide Civility with good role models, which psychologists agree is necessary for integration into society. According to research, exposure to appropriate adult behavior can have a profound influence on Civility.

Proponents of less restrictive parenting techniques say Courtesy and Politeness should loosen up. They believe pushing Civility too hard will lead to a backlash of rude behavior and a loss of respect for authority.

Courtesy and Politeness admit they have ambitious plans for Civility, and say they see nothing wrong with insisting on what they consider appropriate behavior.

“Who knows how far-reaching our efforts will be,” Politeness says. “Civility may even enter politics one day.”
